We will pair you up with a Spanish-speaking student from the University of Cuenca who is learning English. You will learn the Spanish words for items and you will teach the students the English words. For two hours, you will explore the market and find hidden treasures. Aside from helping the students, you will learn about the different types of fruits, vegetables, and herbs available. Many that you have never heard of. You will learn all about Yapa and maybe even get some! We will meet at the foundation for breakfast at 9am, included. We will then head over to the 10 de agosto market. At 11:30 we will all meet up for hornado and enjoy this traditional lunch of succulent pork. There are other meal options available should you wish something different. You will responsible for providing your student with lunch. A typical lunch cost $4.00. You will be given instructions on unique things to find and some explaination about products you will find. You will explore the medicinal herbal sections, other sections of the market, as well as some of the stores outside the makets where you can find herbs, spices and flours at a fraction of the cost in the grocery store.
